What is Mytime?

Giving carers the break they deserve.

Caring for someone can take up a lot of your time. Mytime is here to give some of that time back.

We connect unpaid carers who could benefit from a break with businesses and organisations that kindly donate complimentary leisure, cultural and educational experiences.

Carers take time

A meal, a show, a day out or a night away can offer valuable time away from the caring role.

Start here

Mytime works because carers and businesses come together.

Whether you're looking for a little time away from caring, or your business can help make that possible, there's a simple way to get involved.

I'm an unpaid carer

I'd like to refer myself to Mytime.

Tell the Mytime team a little about you and your caring role. Once your self-referral is received, the team can help you understand what's available in your area.

I'm a business

I can give a carer a break.

Am I a carer?

You might be a carer without thinking of yourself as one.

If you regularly look after or support a family member, partner, friend or neighbour who needs your help, you may be an unpaid carer.

Our impact

A break is small. The difference it can make isn't.

For somebody whose time is usually centred around caring for someone else, a meal out, a day away or a night somewhere different can mean space to recharge, reconnect and feel like themselves again.

Meet Jayne
“For the first time in years, I felt seen.”

Jayne is a single mum and full-time carer for her adult son Adam. After years of caring around the clock, Mytime gave her something she hadn't realised how much she needed: a break.

Two nights. No organising. No worrying. Just time.

Adam has lifelong health challenges and needs Jayne's support around the clock. The physical and emotional demands of caring had left her exhausted and burnt out.

When the Mytime team offered Jayne a short break, she almost turned it down. Instead, they arranged a complimentary two-night stay at one of Mytime's partner hotels. She took her best friend and, for once, didn't have to worry about a thing.

“That break gave me the chance to breathe, to remember what it feels like to be me.”

Read Jayne's story

Jayne has three adult children and is a full-time carer for her middle son, Adam. When Adam was nine, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Treatment successfully removed the tumour, but left him with lifelong health challenges.

Adam lost his sight, his growth was affected and his mobility declined. Jayne supported him to have as much independence as possible while continuing to provide the care he needed.

More recently, Adam developed a terminal brain tumour. His condition deteriorated rapidly and Jayne now spends most of the week at his home, making sure he has the support he needs while also giving his younger brother a break.

“For the past few years, I've been running on autopilot – just surviving each day as it comes. I was exhausted, but I didn't even realise how much I needed a break.”

The experience left Jayne feeling recharged and with a fresh perspective. She now understands that taking care of herself is just as important as caring for Adam.
